Israel Strikes Houthi Military Targets in Yemen, Including Hizaz Power Station and Ports, Following Repeated Attacks
Jan 10, 2025, 01:40 PM
Israel's military confirmed that it carried out airstrikes against Houthi targets in Yemen's western coast and inland areas. Israeli Air Force fighter jets, directed by military intelligence and the navy, struck military infrastructure sites belonging to the Houthi regime, including the Hizaz power station near the capital Sana'a, a central source of energy for the Houthis used in their military activities. The strikes also targeted military infrastructure in the Al Hodeidah and Ras Issa ports, as well as platforms for surface-to-surface missiles. The operation was in response to repeated attacks by the Iran-backed Houthi group against Israel using UAVs and surface-to-surface missiles. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that Israel attacked Houthi targets on the western coast and deep inside Yemen. The Israeli Defense Forces described the Houthi regime as a central part of the Iranian axis of terror, whose attacks pose a threat to regional security and stability.
