Amazon Raises U.S. Warehouse Worker Pay by $1.50, Adds Free Prime Membership
Sep 18, 2024, 03:56 PM
Amazon is raising the pay of its hourly warehouse workers in the U.S. by at least $1.50 an hour, bringing the average base wage to more than $22 per hour. The new pay scale ranges from $18.50 to $29.50 per hour depending on location. In addition to the wage increase, Amazon is adding a free Prime membership, including Prime Video, to its benefits package for these workers. This move comes after the company laid off 30,000 employees and aims to help Amazon hire and retain staff as it heads into the busiest shopping period of the year. The pay hikes and new benefits will be implemented starting next year. The wage increase applies to workers in fulfillment and transport operations.
