China Delivers First LNG Ship, Qatar and Shell Sign 3 MTPA LNG Deal Starting 2025

China has achieved a significant milestone by delivering its first domestically built giant LNG ship, signaling advancements in modern design, reliability, and environmental sustainability. Meanwhile, QatarEnergy and Shell have entered into a long-term agreement to supply 3 million tons per annum (MTPA) of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to China starting in 2025. This agreement aligns with China's growing role as the world's largest LNG buyer and its efforts to transition industries from coal to cleaner energy sources like natural gas. The deal underscores China's ambitions to position itself as a global LNG trading hub, with its market expected to grow for at least another decade, according to Petroleum Economist.
