Zuckerberg's Meta Donates $1M to Trump's Inaugural Fund, Gifts Smart Glasses at Mar-a-Lago
Dec 12, 2024, 03:36 AM
Mark Zuckerberg's Meta Platforms Inc. has donated $1 million to President-elect Donald Trump's inaugural fund, signaling a notable shift in the company's political engagement. This move comes after Meta did not contribute to Trump's 2017 inaugural fund or to President Joe Biden's inaugural fund in 2021. The donation is also noteworthy given the previously fraught relationship between Zuckerberg and Trump. Last month, Zuckerberg and his advisers met at Mar-a-Lago with prominent figures including Senators Marco Rubio and Rick Scott, former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair. During a dinner with Trump, Zuckerberg provided a private demonstration of Meta's Ray-Ban smart glasses and presented them as a gift to the president-elect.
