AWS Partners with Marvell and Orbital Materials in Five-Year Deal, Marvell Shares Rise
Dec 2, 2024, 03:10 PM
Amazon Web Services (AWS) has announced two significant partnerships aimed at advancing its technological and sustainability goals. AWS has entered a strategic collaboration with Marvell Technology in a five-year agreement to enhance data center and cloud infrastructure. The partnership includes the development of custom AI products, optical digital signal processors (DSPs), PCIe retimers, and Ethernet switching silicon. Marvell will also issue up to 4.18 million shares to an AWS affiliate as part of the deal. AWS CEO Matt Garman emphasized the importance of semiconductors in building efficient cloud-scale infrastructure. Marvell shares rose following the announcement. Additionally, AWS has partnered with Orbital Materials to pilot AI-designed carbon-capturing technologies aimed at decarbonizing data centers. Orbital Materials plans to deploy these technologies by the end of 2025, marking a significant step in reducing emissions from AI operations.
