Escaped Huntsville Unit Inmate Jesus Villareal Captured 275 Miles Away Near Corpus Christi

Jesus Villareal, 39, an inmate serving a 63-year sentence for multiple counts of aggravated robbery and assault, escaped from the Huntsville Unit early Sunday morning. Authorities believe Villareal used a makeshift rope to flee the prison before robbing a gas station and stealing a car. He was captured nearly 275 miles away in Calallen, west of Corpus Christi, and has been taken back into custody, according to TDCJ.
