UC Regents Approve More Non-Lethal Weapons for UCLA Police
Sep 20, 2024, 12:34 AM
The University of California (UC) police have received approval from the UC Regents for an increased stockpile of non-lethal weapons, including pepper balls, sponge rounds, projectile launchers, and drones. This decision comes in response to recent pro-Palestinian protests and clashes with law enforcement on campus. UCLA specifically requested to double its stockpile of certain munitions and add eight launchers and three drones. The Regents' vote granted the approval just ahead of the new school year.
