Russia Announces Nine Countries to Join BRICS as Partner Nations on January 1, 2025
Dec 24, 2024, 01:52 AM
Russia has announced that nine countries will officially become partner nations of BRICS on January 1, 2025. The countries include Belarus, Bolivia, Cuba, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Thailand, Uganda, and Uzbekistan. This decision follows the BRICS summit in Kazan, where 13 nations were invited to join, with four still to respond to the invitation, including Turkey. The announcement was made by Yuri Ushakov, a Russian presidential adviser, highlighting the expansion as a significant outcome of the summit. The Chinese Foreign Ministry also acknowledged the development as an important step for BRICS since its expansion last year.
