Putin: Russia Will Prevent Ukrainian Nuclear Weapons "Under Any Circumstances," Calls Zelensky's Remarks Provocation
Oct 18, 2024, 02:21 PM
Russian President Vladimir Putin declared that Russia will not allow Ukraine to develop or obtain nuclear weapons under any circumstances. He labeled Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's statements about Ukraine's potential to create nuclear weapons as a dangerous provocation. Putin warned that any steps taken by Ukraine toward nuclear armament would be met with an appropriate response from Russia. He acknowledged that creating nuclear weapons in the modern world is not difficult but expressed uncertainty about Ukraine's capabilities in this regard, stating, "I cannot say if Ukraine is capable." Speaking at a meeting with BRICS media managers, Putin asserted that it would be impossible for Ukraine to conceal efforts to build nuclear weapons and reiterated that Russia is capable of monitoring any such developments.
