OpenAI, Microsoft, Adobe Back California's AB 3211 for AI Content Watermarking

OpenAI has announced its support for California's AB 3211 bill, which mandates the labeling of AI-generated content through watermarking. The bill aims to enhance transparency and combat misinformation as the US elections approach. It recently passed in the California State Assembly with a unanimous vote of 62-0 and is now headed to the Senate for further consideration. Major technology companies, including Microsoft and Adobe, have also expressed their support for the bill. These companies have contributed to the creation of the C2PA metadata standard, which is designed to mark AI-generated content.
