Perplexity AI Launches Revenue-Sharing Program with Major Media Brands Amid Plagiarism Accusations
Jul 30, 2024, 01:34 PM
Perplexity AI, an artificial intelligence search startup, has announced a new revenue-sharing program with major media brands including Time, Fortune, Der Spiegel, WordPress, Texas Tribune, and Entrepreneur. This initiative follows accusations of plagiarism against the company. Under the new program, Perplexity will share a double-digit percentage of ad revenue with publishers whose content is surfaced by its AI chatbot. The company aims to provide fair compensation to publishers and ensure the sustainability of high-quality information sources. The first batch of partners includes Time, Fortune, Der Spiegel, WordPress, Texas Tribune, and Entrepreneur. Perplexity's Chief Business Officer declined to share the exact terms of the deals but confirmed that the revenue share is a multiyear agreement.
