World leaders have gathered at the UN Headquarters in New York for the Summit of the Future, during which the UN General Assembly adopted the 'Pact for the Future' by consensus. The Pact includes two key annexes, the Global Digital Compact and the Declaration on Future Generations, aimed at addressing various global challenges such as climate change, conflicts, and technological threats. The agreement, described as a once-in-a-generation opportunity, seeks to foster greater international cooperation and chart a course towards a peaceful, sustainable, and inclusive future. This landmark agreement, which includes 56 actions, marks a significant step forward for multilateralism and sets priorities for its implementation, including peace and security, sustainable development, and bridging digital divides. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and President of the General Assembly Philemon Yang emphasized the importance of immediate action.
