TEPJF Validates PRI Reforms, ‘Alito’ Moreno Remains Leader Until End of November
Oct 4, 2024, 01:48 AM
The Electoral Tribunal of the Federal Judicial Branch (TEPJF) has validated the reforms to the Institutional Revolutionary Party's (PRI) statutes, allowing Alejandro 'Alito' Moreno to remain as the national leader of the party until the end of November. The Tribunal's decision overturns an earlier ruling by the National Electoral Institute (INE), which had sided with prominent PRI members such as Dulce María Sauri Riancho, Pedro Joaquín Coldwell, and Enrique Ochoa Reza, who challenged the legitimacy of the reforms that permitted his re-election last August. The decision was supported by presiding magistrate Mónica Soto and magistrates Felipe Fuentes and Felipe de la Mata.
