Israeli security services have foiled an Iranian-backed assassination plot targeting top Israeli officials, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, and Shin Bet Director Ronen Bar. The suspect, Moti Maman, a 73-year-old Israeli businessman, was arrested in August following a joint investigation by Shin Bet and the Israeli police. Maman, who had lived in Turkey for years, allegedly smuggled himself into Iran twice to meet with intelligence officers and received payment for his involvement. He is accused of planning the assassinations in coordination with Iranian agents. The plot was uncovered in August, and Maman was arrested after it was determined that he had been recruited by Iran's intelligence to carry out the attacks.
