China's CNNC to Open 12 Nuclear Research Facilities, Hualong Reactors at Taipingling and Zhengzhou
Sep 18, 2024, 01:35 AM
In middle September, China announced the opening of 12 nuclear research facilities and testing platforms to international scientists and institutions. This move, revealed during a conference held by China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) at the headquarters of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna, aims to enhance global cooperation in nuclear research. The facilities include the China Advanced Research Reactor, the new-generation tokamak device Huanliu-3, and the Beishan Underground Research Laboratory. The announcement coincides with the 40th anniversary of China's accession to the IAEA. The next nuclear reactors to connect to the grid are the Hualong reactors at Taipingling and Zhengzhou.
