Synthesia, a London-based artificial intelligence startup specializing in AI-generated video avatars for businesses, has secured $180 million in a Series D funding round, doubling its valuation to $2.1 billion. The round was led by NEA, with participation from new investors including WiL, Atlassian Ventures, and PSP Growth, alongside existing backers such as Google Ventures and MMC Ventures. Since its inception in 2017, the company plans to use the funds to enhance its product offerings and expand its presence in the Asia Pacific region. Synthesia's platform is utilized by over 60,000 businesses, including more than 60% of the Fortune 100, to create videos for sales, marketing, and training purposes. The startup's focus on enterprise solutions and its commitment to the UK as its headquarters have been highlighted as key factors in its growth.
