400 U.K.-based Editors at Springer Nature Strike Over Pay Dispute
Jun 20, 2024, 08:10 AM
Editors and production staff at Springer Nature, the publisher of Nature and hundreds of other scientific journals, have gone on strike over a pay dispute. The action, which began on June 20, 2024, is the first strike in Nature’s 155-year history. The union representing the 400 U.K.-based staff argues that despite the company's significant profits, wages for editors and reporters have remained stagnant, and jobs have been cut. The striking workers are demanding fair pay and better working conditions. The strike has garnered support from various quarters, including scientists and former employees.
