Biden Faces Pressure Over Denial of Secret Service Protection for RFK Jr. and Trump's Security Requests
Jul 14, 2024, 12:44 AM
There is growing pressure on President Joe Biden to provide Secret Service protection to Robert F. Kennedy Jr., a presidential candidate, after multiple requests have been reportedly denied. Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas personally declined Kennedy's request for protection. Critics argue that given Kennedy's family history and current political climate, he should receive immediate protection. Additionally, the Biden administration has also been accused of denying increased security requests for former President Donald Trump, despite heightened threats and repeated appeals from Trump's security detail. Reports indicate that Trump's security requests were rebuffed by Secret Service director Kim Cheatle, even after a suspected assassination attempt.
