An explosion occurred on August 9, 2024, at the Beilun Port area of China's Ningbo-Zhoushan Port, one of the world's busiest ports. The blast originated from a container on the Liberia-flagged container vessel YM Mobility, owned by Yang Ming Marine Transport Corporation. Initial reports indicate that the ship was transporting hazardous materials, which may have contributed to the explosion. The incident caused strong shockwaves felt up to a kilometer away. Despite the severity of the explosion, no casualties have been reported so far. The explosion occurred at approximately 1:40 pm, according to CCTV.
