Taiwan Recognizes Cross-Strait Same-Sex Marriages with Chinese Partners

Taiwan's Mainland Affairs Council announced that Taiwanese nationals and their same-sex partners from China, Hong Kong, and Macau can now register their marriages in Taiwan if they first get married in a third country. Taipei said Thursday that this marks the first time Taiwan has recognized cross-strait unions, a move that could benefit hundreds of couples.
