Nov 7, 2024, 08:16 PM
Russian President Vladimir Putin has congratulated Donald Trump on his victory in the U.S. presidential election and expressed his readiness to hold discussions with the president-elect. Putin praised Trump's courage during the July assassination attempt, stating that he was impressed with his behavior during the incident. He expressed hope that Russian-U.S. relations will be reestablished at a certain point in time and that Russia is open to that. Trump, in a telephone interview with NBC, indicated that he has not yet spoken with Putin but said, 'I think we will talk.' Kurt Volker, involved in previous negotiations with Ukraine and Putin during Trump's administration, stated that Trump plans to make a phone call to Putin as quickly as possible and tell him that he needs to stop the war.
