Fire Erupts in Fuel Storage at Dogharoun Customs Facility on Iran-Afghanistan Border
Aug 5, 2024, 01:43 PM
A significant fire erupted on Monday in fuel storage facilities and some fuel trucks at the Dogharoun Special Economic Zone, located at the Iran-Afghanistan border. The blaze, which started in the afternoon, led to the closure of the Dogharoun customs facility, the primary border crossing between the two countries. Iranian media, including the IRGC-affiliated Tasnim news agency, reported the incident. Unconfirmed reports suggest that an Afghan national from Herat province died in the fire on the Afghanistan side of the border. The Iranian fire brigade worked to control the flames, which have since been extinguished, according to state media.
