Radical Preacher Anjem Choudary Sentenced to Life at Woolwich Crown Court for Directing Terrorist Group
Jul 30, 2024, 12:09 PM
Radical Islamist preacher Anjem Choudary has been sentenced to life imprisonment at Woolwich Crown Court for directing the banned terrorist organization Al-Muhajiroun and encouraging support for it through online meetings. Choudary, 59, was found guilty of leading the group, which has been linked to numerous plots around the world. The court imposed a minimum term of 28 years, meaning Choudary will be eligible for parole at the age of 86. Choudary had taken a caretaker role in the organization after its founder, Omar Bakri Muhammed, was jailed in Lebanon in 2014. The judge described Choudary as a dangerous individual, emphasizing the severity of his crimes and the threat he posed to public safety.
