VisitHezbollah Allegedly Bribed UNIFIL Peacekeepers; Ex-Peacekeeper Reveals Restrictions
Oct 21, 2024, 04:12 AM
Recent reports have emerged alleging that Hezbollah has influenced the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) through bribery and intimidation. According to some accounts, captured Hezbollah militants have claimed that the group bribed UNIFIL personnel to use their positions and surveillance equipment against Israel. Former UN peacekeeper Michael has reportedly stated that UNIFIL forces were heavily restricted by Hezbollah, limiting their operations in southern Lebanon. UNIFIL has also been accused of providing Hezbollah with intelligence on Israeli troop movements. Meanwhile, UNIFIL maintains its commitment to remain in Lebanon despite recent attacks on its positions by Israeli forces, emphasizing that such actions violate international law and United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701.
