AFP Infiltrates Ghost App, Arrests 51 Including 32-Year-Old Mastermind Jay Je Yoon Jung
Sep 18, 2024, 06:34 AM
Australian Federal Police (AFP) have infiltrated the encrypted messaging platform Ghost, which was allegedly used by criminal networks for plotting murders, planning kidnappings, and trafficking drugs. The operation led to the arrest of a 32-year-old Sydney man, Jay Je Yoon Jung, who is accused of being the mastermind behind the app. The takedown of the platform was part of a global law enforcement initiative that resulted in 51 arrests across Australia, Canada, Ireland, Italy, and Sweden. The Ghost app was used by organized crime gangs worldwide, including the Dublin-based 'The Family' drugs gang. Authorities have also seized 128kg of methamphetamine, cocaine, and MDMA in the first six months of this year. The investigation is ongoing, with more arrests anticipated.
