Israel is advancing its defense capabilities with the development of the 'Iron Beam', a high-power laser defense system designed to intercept missiles, drones, and rockets. The system is expected to become operational within a year and aims to provide a cost-effective alternative to existing technologies. Currently, the Iron Dome system incurs an interception cost of approximately $50,000 per missile or drone, whereas the Iron Beam is projected to cost just $2 per intercept. Additionally, Israel's Defense Research and Development head has announced plans to deploy AI-based technology to counter aerial threats, including the use of attack drones in the field.
