EU Climate Monitor: June 2024 Hottest on Record, 2024 Could Be Hottest Year
Jul 8, 2024, 03:51 AM
June 2024 was the hottest June ever recorded, according to the European Union’s climate-monitoring service, Copernicus. This marks the 13th straight month of record-high global temperatures and the 12th consecutive month where the world was 1.5 degrees Celsius warmer than pre-industrial times. The unprecedented temperature increases have led scientists to predict that 2024 could become the world’s hottest year on record, surpassing previous highs set in 2023. The EU climate monitor confirmed that June breaks records.
