China has successfully deployed a laser communication ground system with a 500mm-caliber antenna on the Pamir Plateau in Xinjiang. The system, developed by the Aerospace Information Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, entered regular operation on Sunday. This marks China's first operational satellite-ground laser communication system, which is expected to significantly enhance the country's capacity for massive satellite data transmission.
