Saudi Arabia Executes Six Iranians for Drug Trafficking; Iran Summons Saudi Ambassador

Saudi Arabia has executed six Iranian nationals convicted of drug trafficking, Saudi media reported on Wednesday. The Saudi Ministry of Interior announced that the executions were carried out in the city of Dammam, in the Eastern Province. The individuals were convicted of smuggling hashish into the kingdom. Saudi authorities have not provided details on the dates of their arrest, trial, or execution. The executions bring the total number of executions in Saudi Arabia to 338 for 2024, the highest figure in decades. In response, Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Saudi ambassador in Tehran to protest the executions, expressing strong objection.
