Russia Accuses Ukraine of Chemical Weapon Preparations with 500 Tons of Triethanolamine
Aug 27, 2024, 06:34 AM
Russia has accused Ukraine of preparing to use chemical weapons, with claims that the United States is the main supplier of toxic substances. Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov, head of Russia's Radiological, Chemical, and Biological Defense Troops, stated that Ukraine imported approximately 500 tons of triethanolamine, a chemical that can be used to produce nitrogen mustard gas. Furthermore, Kirillov alleged that the U.S. is involving Moldova and Romania in transporting biomaterials from Ukraine. The Russian permanent mission to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) has also made similar accusations. Ukrainian military personnel are reportedly being trained to use chemical ammunition for Western-made artillery systems. On July 13, 2024, information was received about the delivery of these materials.
