Iran Plans Three-Fold Increase in Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant Capacity with Units Two and Three, Tightens Security and Employment Restrictions
Jan 8, 2025, 09:48 AM
Iran is set to expand its nuclear capabilities with plans to construct additional units at the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant. Mohammad Eslami, the head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), announced intentions to triple the nuclear power generation capacity by building units two and three at the facility. Concurrently, Iranian authorities have implemented strict measures regarding the employment and residency of foreign nationals within a five-kilometer radius of the Bushehr plant and surrounding cities, including Gonaveh, Deylam, and Assaluyeh. The Deputy Governor of Bushehr, Ehsan Jahaniyan, stated that foreign nationals must vacate the area promptly, or their residency permits will be revoked, leading to potential expulsion from the country. The Iranian government is also enhancing security measures around the Bushehr nuclear facility.
