WHO Calls for Lockdowns, Enhanced Surveillance, and Vaccine Distribution Amid Monkeypox Outbreak
Aug 17, 2024, 12:22 AM
The World Health Organization (WHO) has reportedly instructed world governments to prepare for lockdowns in response to a monkeypox outbreak. The WHO Director-General has called for enhanced surveillance and vaccine distribution to combat the outbreak, which was declared a global health emergency two days ago. This comes as Sweden confirms its first case of monkeypox. The WHO is also urging countries to increase data sharing to better manage the situation.
