The partnership involves OpenAI reserving TSMC's manufacturing capacity for 2026 to produce the custom chips. This move comes as the company scales back its ambitious plans to build its own foundry due to high costs and time constraints. Additionally, OpenAI has assembled a 20-person chip development team and is incorporating Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) chips alongside Nvidia chips to meet its increasing infrastructure demands.
