Bitcoin Surpasses $90,000; MicroStrategy's $26B Reserve Exceeds IBM and Nike's Cash Holdings
Nov 16, 2024, 06:00 PM
Bitcoin has surged above $90,000, setting new all-time highs and significantly increasing the value of holdings for nations and corporations. Bhutan, which sold 367 BTC worth $33.5 million at Bitcoin's peak, still holds 12,206 BTC valued at $1.11 billion, representing over 30% of its GDP. El Salvador's Bitcoin holdings have risen to approximately $550 million. MicroStrategy's Bitcoin reserve has reached $26 billion, exceeding the cash holdings of IBM and Nike, with only about a dozen companies, led by Apple and Alphabet, holding more assets in their corporate treasuries. Entrepreneur Anthony Pompliano highlighted a global race for Bitcoin, stating, 'The biggest risk is not owning any.' He urged the United States to acquire as much Bitcoin as possible to avoid being left behind. Bitcoin's price has increased by over 36% in the last 36 days, and interest in the cryptocurrency is picking up substantially across various metrics.
