Waymo Raises $5.6 Billion, Logs 150,000 Weekly Rides and 1 Million Miles for Alphabet

Waymo, the autonomous vehicle unit of Alphabet Inc., has raised $5.6 billion in its latest funding round. The company is expanding its ride services and now provides over 150,000 paid trips per week, driving more than 1 million fully autonomous miles weekly. This marks a significant milestone as Waymo becomes the first autonomous vehicle company to reach such mainstream use. The services are operational in cities like San Francisco, Phoenix, and Los Angeles, contributing to safer roads. Waymo has logged 7.8 million rides and 52 million miles annually. Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai highlighted these achievements in his remarks.
