Mitzi Gaynor, the effervescent dancer and actress best known for her role as Nellie Forbush in the 1958 film 'South Pacific,' died of natural causes on Thursday, October 17, 2024, in Los Angeles at age 93. An Emmy Award-winning entertainer and one of the last actors of Hollywood's golden age of musicals, Gaynor's career spanned eight decades across film, television, and stage. She appeared alongside Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, and Gene Kelly in films such as 'Les Girls' and 'Anything Goes,' and was renowned for her performances in Las Vegas and her spectacular variety TV specials in the 1970s featuring unforgettable Bob Mackie costumes. Gaynor was celebrated for her vibrant song-and-dance numbers, including the memorable 'I'm Gonna Wash That Man Right Out of My Hair.'
