Israel Declares State of Emergency from Haifa Northward Amid Hezbollah Threat, Limits Gatherings
Sep 21, 2024, 05:36 PM
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have issued new home front command guidelines for northern Israel, from Haifa to the border with Lebanon, in response to escalating tensions with Hezbollah. The Defense Minister has signed a special emergency order, declaring a state of emergency in the region. The new restrictions include limiting indoor gatherings to 30 people and outdoor gatherings to 300 people. Work and educational activities are only permitted near designated shelters. The IDF expects Hezbollah to launch a major attack within the next 12-24 hours, potentially involving hundreds of long-range rockets and missiles targeting northern Israel and military sites in the center of the country. IDF Spokesperson Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari has announced these measures as the Israeli Air Force conducted strikes aimed at crippling Hezbollah's rocket launchers.
