Senate Homeland Security Committee Launches Bipartisan Investigation into Security Failures in Attempted Trump Assassination

The Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee (HSGAC) has announced a bipartisan investigation into the security failures that led to the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump. The investigation, led by Chairman Gary Peters (D-Mich.) and Ranking Member Rand Paul (R-Ky.), will include hearings and briefings. Today, July 15, Peters and Paul are speaking with DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, and the Department of Homeland Security will brief committee staff. The committee is also requesting urgent briefings from the Secret Service, DHS, and the FBI.
