Temple Hires Two-Time FCS Champion K.C. Keeler from Sam Houston State as Head Coach
Dec 1, 2024, 09:37 PM
Temple University has hired K.C. Keeler as its new head football coach, bringing the Pennsylvania native back to the East Coast where his coaching career began. Athletic Director Arthur Johnson, who prioritized head coaching experience in the search, secured Keeler, who has an impressive record of success. Keeler comes from Sam Houston State where he accumulated a 97-39 record over 11 years and led the Bearkats to a 9-3 record in their second FBS season. He won the Eddie Robinson Award in 2016 and has won two FCS national championships, including in 2020 with Sam Houston, and has appeared in seven other championship games with Sam Houston State, Delaware, and Division III Rowan. His previous coaching tenures at Delaware and Rowan further established his reputation. Keeler's appointment follows the departure of Stan Drayton, and Temple officially announced the hire, with Keeler expected to be introduced to the players at a team meeting on Sunday at 6:15 p.m. Brad Cornelsen, the offensive coordinator at Sam Houston State, will serve as the interim head coach for the Bearkats' upcoming bowl game.
