David Cameron Reveals Plans to Sanction Israeli Ministers with Asset Freeze and Travel Ban

David Cameron, the former British Prime Minister and Foreign Secretary until July, revealed that he had planned to impose sanctions, including an asset freeze and travel ban, on two Israeli ministers, Bezalel Smotrich, the Finance Minister, and Itamar Ben-Gvir, the National Security Minister. Cameron's proposed sanctions were in response to their support for violent settlers and calls to block aid entering Gaza. He described the ministers as extremists and noted that he had completed all necessary preparations for the sanctions before leaving office. Cameron criticized the current Labour government's partial ban on arms sales to Israel, arguing it made no sense, and urged them to consider his plans for sanctions against members of Netanyahu's government. He also suggested that political reasons had prevented him from implementing the sanctions during his tenure.
