Cardinals, Dodgers, White Sox Finalize Three-Team Trade Involving Fedde, Pham, Edman, and Kopech
Jul 29, 2024, 06:03 PM
The St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago White Sox, and Los Angeles Dodgers have agreed to a three-team trade. The Cardinals will acquire right-handed pitcher Erick Fedde and outfielder Tommy Pham. Fedde, who has been effective this season with a 3.44 ERA and 3.76 FIP in 121.2 innings pitched, returns to MLB after a stint in the KBO. He has a $7.5M annual salary and will be a free agent in 2026. Pham, a veteran outfielder, has posted a 102 wRC+ in 297 plate appearances this season. The Dodgers will receive infielder/outfielder Tommy Edman and right-handed pitcher Michael Kopech. Edman, known for his elite defense and versatility, has yet to play in 2024 due to a wrist injury. Kopech, a flamethrower with a 98.6 mph fastball, has struggled with control issues but offers significant potential. The White Sox will receive prospects Miguel Vargas, Jeral Perez, Noah Miller, and Alexander Albertus from the Dodgers. Vargas is a former top 100 prospect who has shown promise in the minor leagues. The Cardinals aimed to acquire a pitcher to slot in behind Sonny Gray and a right-handed bat, achieving both with Fedde and Pham.
