Cubs Acquire All-Star Isaac Paredes from Rays for Christopher Morel and Two Prospects
Jul 28, 2024, 06:52 PM
The Chicago Cubs are acquiring All-Star third baseman Isaac Paredes from the Tampa Bay Rays, sources tell ESPN. In return, the Rays will receive utilityman Christopher Morel, reliever Hunter Bigge, and pitching prospect Ty Johnson. This 3-for-1 trade aims to bolster the Cubs' offense, as Paredes has been a prolific pull hitter, knocking 67 home runs over the last three seasons. The trade also opens the door for the Rays' top prospect Junior Caminero to be promoted to play third base. Neither Bigge nor Johnson were ranked in the Cubs' midseason Top 30 prospects. The Cubs currently have 5.1% playoff odds.
