A Ukrainian court has frozen assets worth over $24 million belonging to an ex-lawmaker and former pro-Russian President Viktor Yanukovych's 'confidant,' who is suspected of financing Russian-backed forces in the occupied part of Donetsk Oblast. Additionally, Ukraine's Prosecutor General's Office has announced a large-scale special operation involving 70 searches and 30 suspicions for the embezzlement of UAH 138 million (over $3.3 million) allocated for the needs of the army. The operation has led to the detention of 30 officials allegedly involved in the US$3.73 million military embezzlement scheme.
