Italian police have freed 33 Indian farm laborers from slave-like conditions in the northern Verona Province on July 13. The laborers were working seven days a week for 10-12 hours a day at a rate of €4 per hour, with all wages being docked to settle debts. Authorities have seized almost €500,000 ($545,300) from the two alleged abusers, who have been arrested. The laborers were reported to be illegal migrants.
