Jul 24, 2024, 07:59 AM
CrowdStrike has identified a faulty sensor configuration update in its Falcon cybersecurity platform as the cause of a massive global computer outage. The incident, which occurred last Friday, resulted in approximately 8.5 million Windows devices experiencing crashes. The company revealed that a bug in a safety mechanism allowed flawed data to be distributed to customers, leading to the widespread disruption. The affected devices were running Falcon Sensor version 7.11 or higher. CrowdStrike's Post-Incident Review revealed that the flawed Rapid Response Content update was to blame. The company has published a detailed review of the issue and the steps being taken to prevent future occurrences.
