Trump's Energy Plan to Boost LNG Exports, Oil Drilling, and Repeal Clean Power Plan
Nov 25, 2024, 11:07 AM
Former President Donald Trump's transition team is preparing a comprehensive energy plan to be implemented shortly after he takes office. Key elements of this plan include lifting the pause on new liquefied natural gas (LNG) export permits, expediting the approval of pending LNG export applications, and accelerating oil and gas drilling permits on federal lands. Trump also plans to repeal President Biden's Clean Power Plan, emphasizing the role of natural gas in the energy sector. Additionally, Trump aims to increase offshore oil leases for bidding, confront the International Energy Agency (IEA) over its focus on green energy, and seek funding from Congress to replenish the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR), which was depleted under Biden to manage price spikes. Trump would also look to approve the Keystone Pipeline as a symbolic gesture.
