German Bankruptcies Surge 13.5% YoY in July to Decade High

The number of bankruptcies in Germany rose unexpectedly in July, reaching the highest level in about ten years. Preliminary indicators show that regular corporate insolvencies increased by 13.5% year-on-year in July. In May, insolvencies had already risen by almost a third from the previous year, with a confirmed growth rate of 30.9% year-on-year, reflecting creditors' claims.
