Zelenskyy Visits Scranton Plant Producing 155 mm Shells for Ukraine
Sep 22, 2024, 11:04 PM
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy began his visit to the United States on Sunday by touring the Scranton Army Ammunition Plant in Pennsylvania under tight security. The factory is producing critically needed 155 mm artillery shells for Ukraine's defense against Russian ground forces. Zelenskyy was accompanied by Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition & Sustainment William LaPlante, Assistant Secretary of the Army for Acquisition, Logistics and Technology Douglas Bush, and Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro. During his visit, Zelenskyy expressed gratitude to the workers and emphasized the importance of their efforts in helping Ukraine stand strong. Rep. Matt Cartwright noted that Zelenskyy's message was simple: “Thank you. And we need more.” This visit marks the start of Zelenskyy's week-long tour in the U.S., which includes meetings with U.S. officials and a speech at the United Nations General Assembly.
