The latest data from the U.S. Department of Labor shows that initial jobless claims for the week ending September 21, 2024, were 218,000, slightly below the forecast of 223,000 and the previous week's 219,000. This marks the lowest level of initial claims since mid-May 2024 and a 4-month low. Continuing jobless claims for the week ending September 14, 2024, were 1.834 million, slightly above the forecast of 1.828 million and the previous week's 1.829 million. Notably, this is the 8th consecutive week of favorable jobless claims data.
