Tesla Semi Trucks Drive Over 7.5 Million Kilometers, 250,000 Miles in 18 Months, Mass Production to 50,000 Units
Sep 17, 2024, 04:52 PM
Tesla's head of Semi engineering, Dan Priestley, announced that Tesla Semi trucks have collectively driven over 7.5 million kilometers (approximately 4.66 million miles), with a fleet average of over 9,600 miles per day. One of the trucks has logged over 250,000 miles in less than 18 months, operating at North American gross vehicle weight limits. The fleet has demonstrated a high level of reliability with a 95% uptime, including both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance. Tesla is confident that the Semi is ready for Europe's challenges, with plans to scale mass production to 50,000 units per year by 2026. The Semi trucks are achieving significant efficiency improvements, currently at 100 kWh per 100 km, and are expected to further improve with upcoming high-volume versions. Tesla Semi trucks are also navigating serious grades daily and achieving lower operating costs with zero compromises in schedules or payloads.
